There are 10,000+ innocent women in US jails.
We’re getting them out.

When innocence isn’t enough.

Our Story

Over the last 10 years, the number of women in prison has grown by 834%.

The United States incarcerates more women than any other country globally, accounting for approximately one-quarter of the world’s incarcerated women, despite making up only 4% of the global female population.

Why it’s harder for women.

Women are often less involved in violent crimes compared to men. Many crimes that generate DNA evidence, such as violent assaults or homicides, are more frequently committed by men. It’s almost impossible to be exonerated without DNA evidence.

Bias

She’s a bad mother: Gender bias plays a significant role in women’s wrongful convictions, making it more difficult for them to be exonerated compared to men.

Policing

Corrupt police officers and prosecutorial misconduct that involves using fabricated evidence lead to the wrongful convictions.

Coersion

Women are more vulnerable to being coerced into making false confessions.

No Crime

In 75% of cases involving wrongly convicted women, no crime was committed at all.
